So that happened.
A Perfect Day.
This one is for the history books.
Brunch with my two favorite humans - the niece and nephew. And a few other delight characters but really, who wouldn't obsess over these two.
Enjoying a family reunion too many years in the making. I honestly cannot recall having both my parents, my brother, my niece, and my nephew in the same place at the same time. Friggin magic.
Strolling through beautiful works of art in a magical garden. City Park really should be on everyone's list of to-do's when visiting New Orleans.
Dictating the costuming of a gaggle of friends.
They'll regret ever letting me know that this is an option.
And big ups to the ever-wonderful Chance for the brilliant Solange-themed scheme.
Parading (both unexpectedly and literally) through the nation's best city. If you're lucky enough to be surrounded by truly wonderful people, revel in it. I have a story about every person on this trip that involves hearty belly laughs, truly questionable decision-making, much needed words of encouragement, intense political conversations, and a million weird moments that I'll be recounting for the rest of my life.
Of course, there were a dozen more friends that couldn't be here this weekend that I hold just as dear. (So I guess we'll just have to do it again.)
And a very special shout out to Erica (our Leader from afar). You were a huge part of this weekend - I can't thank you enough.
Challenging an old man to tap competition, Huxtable-style..."CHALL-UNGE!!"
(Though doing it while wearing 7" custom-made wedges is pretty clearly Shea-style.)
Dining on delectables while collecting new friends. I will at some point have pictures from Horn's capturing the dinner that segued into drinks and dancing and further Shenanigans but this is still a pretty darned on point.
Dancing till the wee hours of the night.

Being carried home via a pedal-powered mobile disco. (Some of this stuff you just can't make up.)
